言辞世界之外
Beyond Verbal World
人类身处的两个意识世界，言辞世界其一，即由一系列语言所规范、建构的世界，我们受教于、受困于这个世界；外向世界其二，即离开语言，人类就难以定义的世界，我们却又通过沉思、通过艺术努力获取自在于外向世界的可能，这是一个更加广阔、更具潜力、更富有同情心的世界。人类掌握着激活自身潜能的密钥，只要心有感念，便可付诸行动，打开任意门，洞见宇宙之美……言辞世界之外，我们是构境者，以万物之名审视造物实境与幻境，直觉事物本身，直观多元世界的意义生产。
We all simultaneously live in 2 worlds of ideas. One of them is the verbal world which is composed and regulated by serials of languages. We were taught here and trapped here. The other one is the extensional world which cannot be defined without language. However, by speculation and arts, human is able to recognize this world, which is broader and with more potentials and compassion, and even enter into this world to acquire a free status of being. As human beings, we hold the key to activate our own potential. As long as we make sense of it and let actions follows, we will open all kinds of opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the universe…… Beyond the Verbal World, we are constructors of environments. In names of all living things, we inspect environment of both artifacts and illusions. With intuition to feel essence of things, comes insight into the production of meanings in a pluralistic world.

思想者不会停下探究世界边界的脚步：一切思想实验，历经淬炼，终会从理念走向现实，从范式转生为万物，继而引发新的想象。南京艺术学院设计学院，以“完全之人物”“心智之造诣”为育人理想，重研究、重实验、重思辨。百年学府立思想丰碑，由陈之佛、张道一、吴山、奚传绩等名家、名师奠定的设计教育理念与学术研究态度，是学院前行的根本。学人养成科学之习惯，滋养向学之心。面对新时代，学院准确识变、科学应变、主动求变，关注大问题、真问题，多维度拓展科研、教学、创作、国际交流优质资源；面对新百年，学院珍视自身传统，绵绵用力、久久为功，重现中国设计话语内在：万物并育而不相害，各复其根，各美其美。
Thinkers never stop their pace to explore boundaries of the world: every thought experiment began with ideas and paradigms, and turned into reality, materiality, then evoked new imagination. School of Design of Nanjing University of the Arts (NUA) based its education on ‘mental accomplishment’ and ‘complete personality’ by focusing on research, experiment, and speculation. Motive power of this school is provided not only by achievements of education in its history of one hundred years, but also provided by educational ideas and research attitude of generations of masters in this school including Chen Zhifo, Zhang Daoyi, Wu Shan and Xi Chuanji……etc. Scholars are here to cultivate their ambitions in world of knowledge by following scientific rules. Facing this new era, School of Design of NUA endeavors to recognize the changing trend, cope with changes scientifically, and even take initiative to ask for changing. It tries to focus on big questions and real questions, and actively expand its resources in research, education, creation, and international communication. At a position to face the next 100 years, School of Design set its own pace of development by cherishing both its own tradition and essence of Chinese design: all things are nourished together without their injuring one another, and we should watch them fall back into their reposes and appreciate their own beauties.
