LuXun Academy of Fine Arts (LAFA) was formerly founded as LuXun Academy of Arts in Yan'an in 1938, and was personally advocated by Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other old generation leaders. Comrade Mao Zedong hand-wrote the school name and the school motto of "tense, serious, hardworking and modest" for the college.In 1945, Yan'an Luxun Academy of Arts moved to the northeast. In 1958, it became the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts.The college has two campuses, Shenyang and Dalian. Shenyang is the Northeast Political, Economic and Cultural Center, the campus is located in the famous Gaoxin Industrial Street —— Sanhao Street. Dalian Campus is located in Jinshi Beach, a beautiful national scenic tourism resort. Multimedia and Animation Faculty (MAF) begin as Multimedia (2001 enrollment) and animation (2003 enrollment) two professional directions, which is created on the basis of animation studio in Decoration department in LAFA in 1989. In 2007, the department moved to Dalian campus, then the MAF was formally established in 2013. The facultly has been actively engaged in the exploration and practice of discipline construction, and has made gratifying achievements in teaching, scientific research and social services. Animation has been rated as the national first-class undergraduate major construction point by the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national institutions of higher learning, the first-class major and key support majors in Liaoning Province. In 2020, animation major will take the lead in being approved as the second-degree authorization point and inter-school joint training graduate and undergraduate demonstration majors. Relying on the profound academic influence and discipline background at LAFA, MAF has formed the overall characteristics and good development trend of interdisciplinary, media, science and art integration in terms of teaching, scientific research and social services. At present, the faculty includes two majors: one is animation and the other one is drama film and television art design. In 2017, the major of drama, film and television art design was officially established and enrolled students. In 2020, Art, Science and Technology direction has been officially approved as a new major and plans to recruit students in 2022. MAF always adhere to the discipline construction as the center, in "paradigm animation" and "animation and all media integration" under the guidance of the concept, the development of theoretical research and creative practice as the gripper, from the perspective of the relationship between art and science deep dig discipline connotation, expand academic characteristics, carry out teaching, scientific research and social service practice innovation work, create a new animation professional top talent training system and characteristic academic ecology. At the beginning of the establishment of the teaching, scientific research and social service unified academic mechanism, the pulse of The Times, out of the traditional art teaching mode barriers, classroom teaching and practice teaching, formed a new era characteristic, with LAFA Dalian campus development concept, and international advanced higher art education teaching studio and teaching experimental center (school-enterprise joint laboratory) double-track mode. Animation major has 8 teaching studios, divided into three teaching directions: dynamic narrative (independent animation short film studio, film animation feature studio), interactive narrative (serious animation studio, game design studio, all media publishing studio) and static narrative (animation sculpture and creative product studio, cartoon and picture book studio, comic book and illustration studio), drama and film art design major has three teaching studios, divided into stage art and film physical effects studio, film art and film studio and digital special effects studio. On this basis, the college, together with famous enterprises at home and abroad, has set up established more than 50 joint school-enterprise laboratories and off-school teaching practice bases corresponding to their own teaching and practical characteristics and the teaching content of relevant studios, opening the classroom to the place where discipline construction is most needed, and expanding the connotation and extension of discipline development.
