疫情下的艺术世界，减少了面对面的接触，更多的需要远程的交流来实现信息共享和交换。视觉体验中仅仅通过模凌两可的图像传输依然不能替代近距离感受艺术家触感细腻的异常制造。就像你无法通过望远镜去完成旅行，无法用想象去替代在林中漫步带来的具体和丰沛的感受。艺术家在画面或空间中提供的手感和材质，依然是作品不可或缺的部分。即使几乎所有的媒介都有互通的因素，例如色彩和明暗、节奏和层次、平衡和变化，但是每个媒介又有其不可替代的特质。这几位年轻的艺术家，都极度敏感于自己所使用的媒介，对其特质了如指掌，像大祭司般进行着自己唯一咒语的幻术，使观者亲临其境，召唤神龙。
The art world under the epidemic has reduced face-to-face contact, and more remote communication is needed to realize information sharing and exchange. In terms of the visual experience, the ambiguity of the transmitted images in digital world cannot reproduce the artist’s delicate touch at a close glance. Just like you can't fulfill a trip through a telescope or imagine the concrete and abundant feelings of walking in the forest. The touch and the texture of the materials provided by the artists within a painting or a space are still indispensable to the work. Even though almost all media have interoperable attributes, such as color and light and shade, rhythm and level, balance and change, each medium has its own irreplaceable characteristics. These young artists presented in this exhibition are extremely sensitive to the medium they use, knowing its characteristics well, and performing the illusion of their only spell like a high priest. They allow the viewers to experience the scene onsite and feel like that they are enabled to summon the dragon.

The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts
广州美术学院前身是中南美术专科学校，是根据国家建设布局，于1953年组建于湖北武汉的专门美术院校，时由中南文艺学院、华南人民文学艺术学院、广西省艺术专科学校等院校相关系科和人员合并而成。首任校长为参加过延安文艺座谈会的著名革命美术家胡一川，首任副校长为著名油画家杨秋人，著名国画家关山月和阳太阳。 1958年中南美术专科学校由武汉南迁广州，更名为广州美术学院。1981年获全国首批硕士学位授予权，1987年开始招收外国及港澳台地区学生，2005年获准为国家首批艺术硕士（MFA）培养试点单位，学校目前有艺术学理论、美术学、设计学三个一级学科硕士学位授权点以及教育、艺术、风景园林、文物与博物馆四个专业学位硕士授权点。 学校坚持“守正创新、开放包容、关注现实、服务社会”的办学理念，经过60多年的发展，形成了把握时代脉搏，关注社会需求，以美术与设计创新能力培养为重点，以艺术学理论与人文教育为支撑，多学科交叉融合，产学研联动，主动为社会和经济发展服务的办学特色，凝练出“先学做人，再事丹青”的校训。 步入新时代，广州美术学院依托广东作为改革开放排头兵、先行地和实验区的优势，立足粤港澳大湾区，凭借历史、区位、经济发展、文化资源以及人才汇聚的多方面优势，以高起点、新作为推进人才培养、科研创作，更好为新时代社会发展提供服务，主动融入粤港澳大湾区建设等国家战略，乘着“一带一路”倡议的东风加速向前。
The predecessor of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA) was Central South College of Fine Arts, a fine arts school established in Wuhan, Hubei Province in 1953 in response to the then national higher education plan. It represented the merger of the Central South Institute of Art and Literature in Wuhan, South China Institute of Art and Literature in Guangzhou and Guangxi Institute of Art. The first president of the College was Hu Yichuan, a famous revolutionary artist who participated in the renowned Yan'an Literature and Art Symposium in 1942, and the first vice presidents were famous oil painter Yang Qiuren, and famous painters of Chinese painting Guan Shanyue and Yang Taiyang. In 1958, the College was moved from Wuhan to Guangzhou and renamed Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA). In 1981, GAFA became one of the country’s first institutions authorized to confer master’s degrees; in 1987, it began to recruit international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In 2005, it was approved as one of the first pilots in China to launch Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program. Currently GAFA is authorized to confers master’s degree in three first-level disciplines (Theories of Art Studies, Fine Arts, Design) and four majors ( Education, Art, Landscape Architecture, Cultural Heritage and Museology). Upholding an education philosophy of “being upright and innovative with an open and inclusive mindset, an insight into the reality and an aspiration for serving the society”, GAFA has developed its own educational characteristics following over six decades of evolution. Specifically, it focuses on developing students’ innovative ability in fine arts and design to meet the needs of the era and the society, and, based on the theories of art studies and humanistic education, promotes multidisciplinary integration, enables interaction between professional practices, education and research, and actively serves the social and economic development. The motto of GAFA is thus established as “learn morality before art”. In the new era, GAFA is determined to develop high-caliber talents and boost academic research and artistic creation at a higher starting point through new initiatives. To make this happen, it will leverage the strengths of Guangdong Province as the pioneer, pilot and experimental field of the reform and opening up policy and those of the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in historical, geographical, economic, cultural and intellectual resources. In this way, GAFA will better serve the social development in the new era, play an active role in implementing the national strategies like GBA development, and work towards a more promising future as driven by the country’s Belt and Road” initiative.
