Cyber Juxtaposition
In Greek mythology, Iliad, Homer described “Chimera” as a fire-breathing hybrid creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of Lion, goat, and snake. After digital revolution, people live in the fusion of ubiquitous computation and real world by utilizing various types of digital devices, interfaces, and systems, enabling the human beings to coexist within cyber and real spaces simultaneously. “Multiheterogeneous juxtaposition" has become a universalphenomenon, while the concept of “Chimera” is no longer absurd and utopian. Empowered by digital technologies and new media, the exhibition presents multiple phenomena of “Cyber Juxtaposition” in our daily lives: human id, ego, and superego, the overlap and fusion of virtual and real spaces, various phases of the material, different status of energy, diverse stages of the event, etc.. These heterogeneous elements existing in demarcate space and time are enabled to coexist, mingle, and interact in numerous types of “Modern Chimera.”
